Why Sweet Potato in our Dog Food?

If you’ve had a look at our dog food range, or indeed given pooch some of our food, you may have noticed that all of our products contain sweet potato as a key ingredient.

But why?

Firstly, it’s packed with a variety of vitamins and minerals and naturally gluten-free.

And, as it’s high in fibre it helps to aid digestion. This promotes a healthy digestive system and good stool formulation – which is great for sensitive dogs as they are soothing on the stomach.

Sweet potato is a complex carbohydrate with a lower glycaemic index, this means it releases its energy slowly throughout the day.

Finally, it’s a great source of;

• Vitamin A – which is an antioxidant powerhouse and is thought to have anti-ageing properties along with helping to maintain good eyesight and aid skin and coat condition
• Beta-carotene – an antioxidant thought to have anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting properties
• Magnesium – which is thought to help with stress and promote calmness, good mood and relaxation
